Terms of Use
The rules for using the ASAR Reference Guide.
Last updated: 25 September 2026
What this is
The ASAR Reference Guide at asar.team is an internal tool for the members of Arrowsmith Search and Rescue, a volunteer search and rescue society in British Columbia. It holds our reference material and the day to day records of the team: expenses, flight logs, equipment, training and the rest.
It is provided to members free of charge. It is not a product, it is not for sale, and accounts are not open to the public.
The important one
This app does not replace training, protocols or medical direction. The reference material here is a memory aid for people who have already been trained. It is not a substitute for your training, for your team's current operating procedures, for the direction of a search manager, or for the advice of a medical professional. In the field, your training and the direction you are given come first. If something in this guide conflicts with either, follow them and tell us so we can fix the guide.
Your account
- Accounts are for current ASAR members. Do not share yours.
- You are responsible for what is done under your account, so keep your password to yourself and sign out on shared devices.
- Some parts of the app, such as marking an expense paid, are limited to particular roles. Do not try to work around those limits.
- When you stop being a member, your account is closed. Records you created as part of ASAR business stay with the society.
Using it properly
- Put in accurate information. Expense records go to the treasurer and into the society's books, and a wrong figure costs somebody real time to find.
- Only upload documents that belong here. Receipts and operational records, not personal paperwork.
- What you see here about other members, about incidents and about subjects of searches is confidential. Treat it the way you treat anything else you learn on a task, and do not repost it.
- Do not attempt to break, overload or probe the app. If you find a security problem, tell us rather than exploring it.
What you put in
Records you create in the course of ASAR business, such as expenses, flight logs and maintenance notes, are records of the society and the society keeps them. The reference content in the guide belongs to ASAR and to the organisations whose material it draws on, and is for the team's own use.
No promises about availability
This is a volunteer-built tool. It is offered as it is. We do our best to keep it working, accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will be up when you need it, that it will be free of errors, or that nothing will be lost. Do not let it be the only copy of anything that matters, and do not let it be the only thing between you and a decision in the field.
To the extent the law allows, ASAR and the people who volunteer on this app are not liable for loss or damage arising from using it.
Changes and questions
These terms can change; the date at the top says when they last did. Access can be suspended if an account is being misused or if a person is no longer a member. British Columbia law applies.
