Before Departing Staging
- Receive briefing from Operations or Planning
- Obtain assignment (task number, boundaries, objectives)
- Review map and assignment area
- Confirm team composition and capabilities
- Verify team equipment (radios, GPS, first aid, flagging)
- Conduct team safety briefing
- Radio check with base
- Confirm return time and check-in schedule
During Search
- Maintain team accountability and spacing
- Monitor team fatigue and hydration
- Document clues with photos and GPS coordinates
- Mark clues with flagging tape
- Maintain regular radio contact
- Adjust tactics based on terrain and conditions
- Track coverage and progress on map
Upon Return to Staging
- Debrief team members
- Complete and submit assignment form
- Report findings to Operations/Planning
- Turn in any collected evidence
- Download GPS tracks
- Report any equipment issues
- Ensure team signs out
